Chapel in Glinica

The late 18th century chapel contains a statue of the Virgin Mary. It is a so-called reconciliation chapel. They were built from the Middle Ages founded by murderers following 'conciliation treaties' which obliged them to meet the specific conditions of settlement to the family of the victim. These chapels were more difficult and more expensive to erect than penitential crosses, which made them rarer to be ordered. Usually they looked much alike this one. They were pillars with a niche near the top where a holy figure or a crucifix was placed.
